While many Bollywood actors dedicate months preparing to get into the skin of their on screen characters, Akshay Kumar doesn’t believe in that practice. The superstar who has been widely applauded for his brilliant portrayal of naval officer Rustom Pavri in the 2016 crime thriller ‘Rustom’, says he doesn’t prepare for any of his roles
Talking about it Akshay said, “I don’t prepare myself for any role. I think my directors prepare more than me. I believe that I would not be able to compete with my director’s preparation because he is doing one film a year while I am doing more. Therefore, my common sense says that I only follow his preparation of the role for me. I don’t act smart in front of my director.”
The actor spoke about his upcoming film ‘Jolly LLB 2’ and said, “Everything was prepared. I just followed what he said and make sure I excel in that. That’s the only preparation I did.”
While Akshay is one of the most disciplined and dedicated actors in the industry, he confessed that when he started acting initially he wasn’t very serious about the craft, “Honestly, I just feel I am lucky and blessed to be here. Initially, I didn’t take my job seriously. I used to do films for money. When I assured myself of a decent bank balance, that’s when I started taking risks. If I recollect, I guess Sangharsh changed my perspective as an actor. I started to love what I do and now I am an extremely passionate actor.”
