Will Deepika Padukone star in the sequel of 'XXX: Return of Xander Cage'?

Let's be honest. We were all really excited to spot our Bollywood diva, Deepika Padukone on the big screen in a Hollywood movie. Deepika made her debut in Hollywood with 'XXX: Return of Xander Cage' and it would be fair to say that it, in no way helped boost her career. And while the actress did perform some really high octane action sequences and looked really good in the film too, it wasn't as big a hit we expected it to be.
Also, now, it seems that Deepika might be a little irked by the film’s director, DJ Caruso. He has already announced that Deepika will star in the sequel of the film. However, the truth is that Deepika has not even received a contract nor has she given her consent to the film. Vin Diesel is also keen to sign her for the film, however, the film did nothing substantial for her career and therefore, Deepika might not be interested in the sequel.
About the film, Deepika had said in an interview earlier, “The female character of this film is so strong. That’s also a reflection of modern society where women contribute so much more. A few years ago, in the same kind of film, perhaps my character would be the damsel in distress who needs to be rescued. But in this movie, the girl characters are so strong that basically Vin Diesel’s character, Xander, has found his match in my character Serena Unger. This girl is equal to him in every respect. She challenges him, she excites him, she’s smart, intelligent and funny. She can stand up for herself when she needs to and she’s a key player in the group that she represents. These traits are exciting for me. Serena is a representation of what women are in the world today.”
