‘Rangoon’ re-edited and trimmed by nearly 40 minutes

Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan are gearing up for the release of their much awaited war-drama ‘Rangoon’. The trio is currently busy promoting the film in full force, which has been given the U/A certificate by the Central Board of Certification (CBFC) after demanding a replacement of three cuss words that have now been changed to ‘bakchor’, ‘rascal’ and ‘jhoothi’.

However, with just few days ahead of its release, director Vishal Bhardwaj and co-producers, Sajid Nadiadwala and Viacom 18 took a voluntary decision to re-edit the film and reduce its length. The film, which was originally two hours and 47 minutes long, has been trimmed to two hours and seven minutes post re-editing.

The makers took this decision as they felt the film was too long and trimming it would make it more viewer-friendly. A leading entertainment portal quotes a source, “Everyone in the team feels that ‘Rangoon’ has turned out to be very special. But at nearly three hours of playing time, the film was seen to be too long for today’s generation. Vishal and his producers Sajid Nadiadwala and Viacom 18 have voluntarily decided to bring the length down by more than half an hour.”

Set against the backdrop of World War II, the film is to hit the theatres on 24th February.
