Aanand L Rai: I wanted to cut the all-important two feet from Shah Rukh Khan

'Tanu Weds Manu' Aanand L Rai who is currently busy with the promotions of 'Shubh Mangal Saavdhan' has taken a break from the shooting of his yet-untitled dwarf film starring Shah Rukh Khan. While SRK in a recent candid tweet admitted that his missing the director, Aanand said that he too is missing his Khan Saab and can’t wait to shoot with him again.
"Our relationship goes beyond the actor-director equation. Now that I’ve found him, he’ll be with me till I’m around. It’s the same with Dhanush who’s like a younger brother, and Sonam (Kapoor) who I’ll just call up to know what she is doing. I’ve not trained at any film institute, idhar udhar ki baton mein mujhe mazaa aata hai aur issi beech film ban jaati hai. It’s important to enjoy the journey because that’s what defines a film which is the last chapter," the producer-director asserted.
Talking about the idea for his dwarf film, Aanand revealed that the idea came to him five years ago when borrowing from Hollywood’s Spider-Man, Batman and Superman, Bollywood started making its own superheroes. “I loved seeing Hrithik fly off a 250-feet building, it was brilliantly done, but deep down I felt this wasn’t us. Apart from our mythological demigods, Indians aren’t ready for superheroes, kadd mein hum abhi bahut chhote hain. That’s what made me want to live life from the perspective of a dwarf,” the director explained.
However, SRK is not the only superstar in the film, Salman Khan too will be seen playing himself in the film. Talking about the experience Aanand said that watching the two stars together was pure magic. Rai signed off saying, "It was my fanboy moment, I stopped being a director and was clapping as an audience."
