Aanand L Rai to bring Meerut to Mumbai for Shah Rukh Khan

As reported earlier, Aanand L Rai had begun prepping for his next film in which Shah Rukh Khan will be seen playing the role of a dwarf. The film is an unusual love story that for the first time will see Shah Rukh play an unconventional protagonist. Aanand L Rai recently visited Meerut to conduct a recce as some parts of the film are based in the city.

However, a leading daily now informs that the filmmaker has now recreated the clock tower and the area around it in Meerut at the Mumbai Filmcity.

A source close to the development revealed to the daily, "Since Shah Rukh is playing a dwarf, some VFX technicalities are involved, which will be difficult to execute outdoors in the midst of crowds. So Aanand thought of shooting on a set in a controlled location to facilitate the process. The film is expected to roll by the end of this month."

The filmmaker in an interview earlier revealed that the film was extremely difficult - technically and emotionally. The film made headlines as names by the likes of Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif popped up for the leading lady opposite Shah Rukh. A recent buzz, however, suggests that Alia Bhatt has been roped in to play a pivotal role in the film.
