The coronavirus pandemic has caused mass-spread panic all over the world with people being forced into lockdown to keep themselves safe. And while people are allowed to step out to get basic necessities, they also have to follow certain guidelines which include wearing a mask. It's no secret that the demands for masks are a lot higher than the supply. In fact, a lot of places within the country have already run out of face masks. This is where people stepped in to help make things better and one of them includes fashion designer Masaba Gupta.

On Wednesday, the designer took to her social media platforms to announce that she will start manufacturing face masks for people so as to contribute in the fight against this deadly pandemic. This new initiative by the designer's fashion brand 'House Of Masaba', is titled 'Maskaba'. Quite an apt name for the initiative we must say.

She took to her Instagram handle and put up a post with the caption, "Changing gears for some time In the wake of the current pandemic and lockdown across the country, all operations at the House of Masaba came to a halt. While the damage that this will do is immeasurable at this point, my hope is to keep my chin up by doing my bit to help my country instead-in this time.”

She further explained the noble cause and wrote, “We have started the production of non-surgical masks for donation at a production facility keeping all hygiene and safety standards in mind. These masks are washable and reusable.” “The Masks are being made from fabric that was meant for garments, at one of our production vendors. The team is small- with 3 workers who live at this same facility in quarantine and we are making sure the workers are being paid, and are taken care of," she continued.

Much like Masaba, several International brands the likes of which include Prada, Gucci, Dior, Louis Vuitton etc have also offered to manufacture face masks. Stay tuned for more updates.
