Aditi Rao Hydari has carved a niche for herself in the film industry on her own merit and the actress minces no words in making that clear. Currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming film ‘Bhoomi’, the actress says that there is nobody recommending her name for the projects she has been signed for.
She says, "I am making my way into the industry on my own and there is no hero recommending my name." Her upcoming film 'Bhoomi' tells the story of a simple girl from a small town who stands up for herself when faced with adversity. Talking about how women should speak out against sexual crimes, the actress adds, "A lot of people don’t speak up about sexual crimes because they think it’s part of the curse of being a woman. That’s what needs to change. I believe that the punishment should be as severe as possible because people have to be dissuaded from committing such crimes. Women need to realise that their dignity or self-worth doesn’t lie in a body part. There is a sense of having lost everything when the truth is that you haven’t lost anything. The shame belongs to the person who has treated you badly."
Helmed by Omung Kumar, ‘Bhoomi’ marks the comeback of Sanjay Dutt after his prison sentence and will hit the theatres on 22nd September.
