Akshay Kumar: I hope 'Gold' will give Hockey more importance as a sport

Akshay Kumar and the cast of 'Gold' interacted with the press at the film's press conference. They spoke about the film, their experiences while working on the film, the importance of sports and a lot more. Talking about sports Akshay said, "Gold ek badi baat hoti hai. My son won black belt in martial arts. We all should work hard. We won more than 18 gold medals in common wealth games."

When asked about being friends with John Abraham and the fact that his film 'Satyamev Jayate' was also releasing on the same day, Akshay said, "We all are friends in the industry. Koi bhi kisi bhi date me aa sakta hai." Talking about the importance of Hockey he said, "Cricket ko side me rakh ke Hockey aur Football craze aur bade. History samje sab log. Hockey should come out more and more. Government is also supporting other games."

On Akshay having to speak Bengali, Reema Kagti said, "He worked with dailogue coach whom I had worked in Calcutta for 2 years." Akshay further continued, "Hockey is the 1st game, 1948 me first gold medal mila tha. I wish 'Gold' will give Hockey more importance as a sport.

On her experience working with Akshay, Mouni Roy stated, "He is a legend. I am a fan of all of them. Reema ma'am you are the best." Akshay continued, "How the whole country united is what you should look for in the film."

When asked how she got the idea of making a film about Hockey, Reema said, "Ankur Tiwari told me about the Hockey gold medal of 1948, that's where I got the idea and this is the film I really wanted to make. I don't think anyone can stop a woman to make a sport-related film." When asked what he would like to say to the audience about watching his film Akshay said, "I'm nobody to tell which film to watch as John is my friend and I wish both the films to well at the box office."
