Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer ‘2.0’ is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated movies of 2018. The movie, which is believed to become one of the biggest openers of the coming year, recently had its Hindi theatrical rights sold for a whopping Rs. 80 crores.

“2.0 makers wanted over Rs 100 crore. But the distributors weren’t too keen on paying the exorbitant amount because that would make the film risky,” revealed a source from the trade. He continued, “The exhibitors are sure that they won’t lose money on the price (Rs 80 crores), since Akshay’s presence will give it a pan-India reach,”

With the satellite rights of the movie already been sold for Rs 110 crores, the producers of the upcoming magnum opus have already recovered around Rs 200 crores of their investment. The movie was initially scheduled to hit the theatres in 2017, but the special effects for the movie were taking longer than the makers expected and thus its release was shifted to 25th January 2018.
