SHOCKING! Akshay Kumar reveals he faced sexual abuse as a child

In the recent years, many Bollywood celebrities have put in efforts to remove the stigma attached to being a victim of sexual abuse. They have encouraged people to open up without feeling any shame or insecurity and some have even shared their own horrific experiences.
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar sent chills down our spine today when he revealed that he too has faced sexual abuse as a child. The actor narrated, “When I was a child, my parents always encouraged me to speak to them frankly about everything. Whether it was discussing a sexual issue or inappropriate behaviour, I was asked to come home and talk frankly." He continued, “The cops took action and the man was arrested. I was a shy kid and was relieved that I could speak about this to my parents. But even today, I find it difficult to say the word 'bum'. We must encourage women and children to speak up and tell their families if they encounter anything strange so that they can be protected and empowered."
On the work front, Akshay is currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming movie 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha', which is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swacchh Bharat Abhiyaan movement. Co-starring Bhumi Pednekar, the movie will hit the theatres on 11th August.
