Salman Khan in collaboration with Karan Johar was all set to produce a film starring Akshay Kumar. The three took to the social media to announce the project and the audience too was excited about Salman, Karan and Akshay joining hands. However, the film they collaborated on was based on the 'Battle of Saragarhi', a subject that Ajay Devgn had earlier announce that he will be making a film on.

While Salman didn't know about Ajay's plans of making a film on 'Battle of Saragarhi', as soon as the actor was informed, he opted out of the project. There were rumours about a fallout between Salman and Ajay over the same, however, refuting the possibility of a tiff, Salman quietly stepped out of the project so that he doesn't get caught between Ajay and Karan.

After Salman opted out, rumours were rife that the film will now be shelved. However, a source close to a leading daily reveals that the film is still very much in the pipeline. Talking to a leading daily, the insider said, "The film is now titled 'Kesar', which means saffron."

There were further speculations about a link between the title of the film and the colour of the ruling party BJP since Akshay's last outing 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' too threw light on the Government's 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'. "The film has nothing to do with the BJP. Kesar stands for many things. It’s also a name. There is also a TV serial by the same name," added the source as he denied the possibility of a link.
