Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra to play singers in 'Aashiqui 3'?!

The third in the Aashiqui franchise, 'Aashiqui 3', has stirred quite a buzz amongst the audience. Recently, the film has been in news for the many speculations as to who will be starring in it. Names like those of Sonam Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Kangana Ranaut, Sidharth Malhotra to even Alia Bhatt popped up in the process of casting for the film.

And now, after much speculation, director Mohit Suri has finalised Alia to play the lead in ‘Aashiqui 3’. This is not the first time that Alia will be lending her voice for a film, she has previously sung songs in ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya’, ‘Udta Punjab’, and ‘Dear Zindagi’. All the songs clicked really well with the audience, and thus it won’t be wrong to say that Alia will be playing a singer in ‘Aashiqui 3’.

Confirming the news to a leading daily, Mohit Suri said, “Since it is part of the Aashiqui franchise, Alia is playing a singer.” The story is penned by Alia’s elder sister Shaheen Bhatt, and minor changes are yet to be made in the script. Mohit is currently busy shooting for Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Half Girlfriend’, and only after its completion will he start work on ‘Aashiqui 3’. Sidharth Malhotra’s role in the film is yet to be worked upon, and thus the film is yet to go on floors.

This will be the first time that Alia will be working in her home banner. The third instalment in the Aashiqui franchise is indeed special as Shaheen is writing the script, and Alia will be acting in the film alongside Sidharth!
