Recently it was announced that Amitabh Bachchan starrer '102 Not Out' and Deepika Padukone starrer 'Padmavati' were to have the same release dates. There were rumours of filmmakers for both films being afraid of the impact each movie's release would have on the other. Initially 'Padmavati' was to release earlier than '102 Not Out', but was then postponed by two weeks.

As of now, reports suggest that Umesh Shukla’s Amitabh Bachchan-Rishi Kapoor starrer '102 Not Out' has decided to opt out of the original release date of December 1, as now, 'Padmavati' releases on that day. A very angry and upset crew member spoke about the topic stating, “We had announced our release date months ago. Now, suddenly they postpone their film by two weeks with no thought to our inconvenience. The initial response was to take them on. But then, we decided to not ruin our chances, or theirs. We will come on a different date." Director Shukla has also confirmed that the film will not release on December 1.
