Amitabh Bachchan shared a heartfelt poem for late actress Sridevi

Everyone was in a state of shock when the news broke out that the legendary actress Sridevi was no more. Even legendary star Amitabh Bachchan has shared a couplet recited to him by lyricist Javed Akhtar at Sridevi’s funeral. The actor has been mourning like everyone else in the film industry for the death of his co-star ever since her death on Saturday.


In his tweet, he shared that famed poet Kaifi Azmi wrote the couplet on actor Guru Dutt’s death in 1964. The actor tweeted, “Rehne ko sada dehar me aata nahi koi, tum jaise gaye aise bhi jata nahi koi. Dehar means the world. Javed Akhtar narrated this sher to me at funeral of Sridevi .. said it was written at time of Guru Dutt demise ; but so appropriate for today.”



Earlier as well just a few hours before the news of Sridevi’s sudden death in a Dubai broke out through social media, Big B had tweeted that he was feeling uneasy that night. He said:




The legendary actress’ mortal remains had reached Mumbai yesterday night at 10 pm and it had reached Green Acres where the actress lived. The prayer meeting was held at Celebration Sports Club foundation in Lokhandwala. A number of Bollywood celebrities arrived at the venue to offer their condolences to the actress. Many A-list celebrities like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Kajol, Ajay Devgn, John Abraham, Vidya Balan, Deepika Padukone, Raveena Tandon, Farhan Akhtar and many others attended the prayer meeting.


The funeral of the actress was held at Pawan Hans in Juhu. Nobody was allowed anywhere close to a 4 km radius of the funeral proceedings. The actress was wrapped in tricolour. The truck that held her mortal remains was decorated with flowers. Boney Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Arjun Kapoor accompanied her to the crematorium. The funeral started at 3.30 and celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Lara Dutta attended the same.
