Everyone was excited when the news came that Aamir Khan will be working on his dream project, ‘Mahabharata’ finally. As last year Aamir had revealed that for the next few years he would be working on a single project that would keep him busy for quite some time. It was later revealed that the actor was set to work on his magnum opus 'Mahabharata'. The film is stated to be inspired along the lines of films like the 'Lord Of The Rings' trilogy and has already been creating buzz owing to rumours suggesting its 1000 crore budget.

As of now, the film is only in its pre-production stage and will likely be a part of 4-5 series. Sources are also saying that international writers will be roped in to polish the script to make it more appealing to global audiences. But some have decided to turn this good news into hate mongering on social media. Twitter users have slammed Aamir Khan for taking on the role of Hindu God on screen. But Javed Akhtar came to the rescue and commented on the tweets.

A Twitter user wrote, "Why should Aamir Khan, a Muslim, play in most ancient and sacred of Hindu epics, the Mahabharata? Would Muslims allow a Hindu to play life of Mohamed?" To this Javed Akhtar commented, "I would like to know which foreign agency is paying you to spread this kind of perverse and poisonous thoughts in our country...You obviously you know nothing about our Indian traditions and culture."
