Atul Agnihotri on Salman Khan: I wasn't sure if I wanted to encash on 'Bodyguard 2'

Recently, there were several reports which stated that Salman Khan's brother-in-law, Atul Agnihotri was working on the script to the sequel of his 2011 blockbuster 'Bodyguard'. It was said that post the failure of 'Tubelight', Salman had apparently told Atul to rework on the script.

When speaking to a leading tabloid about the possibility of making 'Bodyguard 2', Atul stated, "But I wasn't sure I wanted to encash on 'Bodyguard 2' when I had an opportunity to make another film with Salman. I was looking for something bigger, something with more conviction. At the end of the day, 'Bodyguard' was a formula film. What was beautiful about it was the twist in the climax. Without that we would only be taking the character forward and rather than do that, I wanted to engage in something far more challenging and cinematic."

A source close to the topic had earlier revealed, "Bhai rejected Atul’s initial script for 'Bodyguard 2', and told him to work on it. Salman could have given dates to Atul had the script been up to the mark. In the process, Atul lost out on the dates. Now he will have to wait till Salman wraps up the shoots of both 'Race 3' as well as 'Dabangg 3' for him to get his dates. This is assuming that Salman hasn’t been approached by another filmmaker with a great script."

Stay tuned for more updates.
