Ayushmann Khurrana opens up over the actor-singer divide in India
Recently the reports that 'Noor' actor Sonakshi Sinha was to perform at the Justin Bieber concert created quite a stir. While the singers slammed the organiser's decision to get an actor to open the concert, Sonakshi though defended the decision, she denied the reports of performing at the concert. However, this episode has opened a debate about actors turning singer and performing at concerts.

While the industry has been divided over the issue, singer-turned-actor Ayushmann recently opened up about the debate. Ayushmann revealed that Indians prefer actors over singers and it has been so. Ayushmann said, "Our country is culturally very different - only cricketers and actors are mostly in the spotlight. It has been like that since ages. Apart from that, actors are revered more than singers as our films are all about stars lip-syncing and they are voices of the singers."

Talking about the commercial aspect behind the same Ayushmann added, "The commercial aspect is attached in concerts and sponsors depend on tickets sales and want to bring in stars who the public would want to see. It is based on the popularity level of an artiste in a concert. I think it is culturally tuned like that. I don't know if it is right or wrong."

On the work front, Ayushmann will be seen onscreen next with Parineeti Chopra in 'Meri Pyaari Bindu' that releases on May 12.
