After reports about Sonakshi Sinha performing the opening act at Justin Bieber's Mumbai concert broke out, it further led to a debate on whether should actors turn singers. Kailash Kher and several other singers expressed displeasure over not choosing a singer but an actor to perform at a concert.

Ayushmann Khurrana, who himself is an actor as well as a singer, was asked to share his thoughts on actors turning singers. To this, Ayushmann said, "I think it's great. It's lending your own voice to the characters on screen -- like it happens in the West. Why not? But at the same time, I would love to reiterate that singers... Pure singers are here to stay and nobody can ever replace them."

He further added, "If you are singing for yourself and for your character on screen... because most of the actors are not doing stage acting for any other actor... they are doing it for themselves, and that's allowed."

Ayushmann will be next seen in 'Meri Pyaari Bindu' alongside Parineeti Chopra. The film also marks Parineeti's debut as a singer. The film is all set to hit theatres on May 12.
