Unless you live under a rock, you probably know all about the flak Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Padmavati' is facing. And the film hasn't even released yet. The period drama has been facing protests from various groups, including Shree Rajput Karni Sena, for allegedly distorting historical facts. A member of the BJP, Arjun Gupta, has come out strongly against Sanjay Leela Bhansali saying he ought to be tried for ‘treason’.

He has also written a letter to Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the matter. “I have written a letter to Home Minister that Sanjay Leela Bhansali be tried for treason & strict action be taken against him. If this is not done, he will continue making such films," the BJP member wrote. Read the letter below:

Earlier, a senior Rajasthan politician from BJP had also said that if the film has any objectionable sequences then they will only let the film release after those scenes have been removed. He had said, “In case there are any scenes that hurt the sentiments of the public, they will be removed only then will the film be released,” he said. “We will speak to Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the issue. The dignity of Rani Padmini will not be put at stake under any circumstances,” he added.
