A film on Punjab drug abuse, 'Udta Punjab' highlighted the struggle of the youth in Punjab with drug addiction. The film courted controversy over its objectionable scenes and dialogues. The Censor Board Of Film Certification suggested 94 cuts and 13 warnings in the movie. The makers of the film then made an appeal to the Bombay High Court, and the Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh starrer finally released with only a single cut.
However, right ahead of its release, the censor board copy of the film managed to break out at the internet. The makers of the film then urged the viewers to go and watch the film in theatres even as the film quickly got shared across resulting in a loss to the producers. by Stuti Srivastava
