Case filed against Shah Rukh Khan for damaging Railway property in Kota

‘Raees’ actor Shah Rukh Khan has been booked by the Kota government railway police on charges of rioting, unlawful assembly, damaging public property and obstructing a railway official. SRK had travelled via August Kranti express from Mumbai to Delhi on January 23 as a part of film promotions for ‘Raees’. As reported by Hindustan Times,

‘Raees’ actor Shah Rukh Khan has been booked by the Kota government railway police on charges of rioting, unlawful assembly, damaging public property and obstructing a railway official. SRK had travelled via August Kranti express from Mumbai to Delhi on January 23 as a part of film promotions for ‘Raees’.

As reported by Hindustan Times, a complaint was filed against the actor by Kota railway station vendor, Vikram Singh. In his complaint, the 32-year-old vendor alleged that the train arrived at the station around 5am on January 24, a large number of fans thronged the carriage and, “Khan did not deboard the train but waved at his fans from the door to the coach, and threw gifts and footballs at the waiting crowd. This caused a stampede-like situation at the platform.”

The vendor has maintained that owing to the mad rush caused by SRK’s arrival his stall were damaged. and the crowd also robbed cash from his stall. The complaint has been lodged in the court of the additional chief judicial magistrate, railway court, and has now been forwarded to the Kota GRP police station for further investigation.

Kota GRP has booked Shah Rukh Khan under Sections 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 160 (affray), 427 (mischief causing damage of more than 50 rupees), 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code, Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984; Sections 145 (interfering with amenity provided by the railway administration so as to affect the comfortable travel of any passenger) and 146 (obstructing or preventing any railway servant in the discharge of his duties).

Talking about the complaint, GRP superintendent of police Om Prakash said, “We have registered a case against Shah Rukh Khan and other members of the promotional team for rioting, causing unlawful assembly, affray and damage to public property.”
