The fifth day of the five-day Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018, was a star-studded one. There were celebrities not just on the ramp walking as showstoppers for various designers but there was a bevy of them present at the front row seats of all the shows throughout the day.

Day five began with Tahweave's 'Unchartered' displaying ample asymmetry and layering while Nakita Singh's 'Wilderness' was about comfort with contemporary silhouettes. Soumodeep Dutta’s ‘Aalo’ had Gurmeet Choudhary as his showstopper for his collection. Using black and grey against red and white, the line was a quiet symphony of weaves, embellishments, and craft. Introducing men’s wear this season, Soumodeep showed dhoti pants with an intricately woven dupatta all in shades of grey, and a kurta and churidars combo.

Jayanti Reddy's 'Twilight Zone' had Aditi Rao Hydari sashay down the ramp in a heavily embellished rose gold lehenga and embroidered, backless, jacket. With 'Protea' Nupur Kanoi explored elegance and aesthetics in tandem. Bohemian, chic and practical, her work included long jackets, wrap dresses, kimono, kaftans, onesies in teal, mustard, green and purple.

Talking about his 'Gulabi Chowk' Punit Balana said, "I have used Jaipur’s traditional 500-year-old Sanganeri hand block printing technique." Natural organic dyes, eco-friendly methods, comfortable fabrics and a relaxed feel appealed to his showstoppers Jim Sarbh and Radhika Apte.

The next 'Pushtaini' by Neha Agarwal literally livened up the ramp with a live band. Talking about it she said, "My work is inspired by the age-old traditional Madhubani art.

Label Ritu Kumar's 'Native Spirit' was all about vibrant, fun and wearable clothes. To ensure that the Wild West theme was quite apparent, corduroy dungarees were teamed with printed tops. The characteristic fringe detailing that was often favoured on the gaucho pants, appeared as a feisty trim.

The show that followed was a star-studded one with a pretty Diana Penty walking for Disha Patel, Lisa Haydon for Mishru and Sonu Sood for Siddhesh Chauhan.

Narendra Kumar's 'Never Hyde' show was aimed at the larger body types and had the talented actress Shikha Talsania walk as the showstopper while singer Naquita Dsouza entertained with her powerful performance. Talking about the collection Shikha said, "These silhouettes and designs flatter curves and also make one feel comfortable."

Sanjukta Dutta's had Hema Malini and Esha Deol walk wearing exquisite traditional Assamese weaves. Kalki Koechlin walked for Gaurav Katta, Sophie Choudhary for Arvin Ampula and Prachi Desai was the showstopper for Julie Shah.

The finale show was the highlight of the five-day show. The stunning Kareena Kapoor Khan returned to the runway for Lakmé in a breath-taking avatar for the Grand Finale designer Monisha Jaisingh. Monisha’s collection, titled ‘Shades of a Diva’ was named and inspired by Lakmé ’s beauty statement of the season.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, Lakmé Absolute Brand Ambassador said, “It’s been such a wonderful association with Lakmé from the very beginning and coming back to the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale this time was very special. I am so excited to present my first ever makeup collection ‘Kareena Kapoor Khan by Lakmé Absolute’. It’s spectacular to see how beautifully Monisha has brought alive the beauty theme of Shades of a Diva through her designs. I loved her entire collection and especially the outfit I wore.”

Adding to the grandeur of the event were the nine artists of the world’s largest entertainment group, Cirque du Soleil, featuring dancers, acro-duo, skater-duo, hula-hoop specialist and cube manipulators, who set the stage for a power-packed finale with sequences from their newest show ‘BAZZAR’. Cirque du Soleil’s ‘BAZZAR’ will premiere in November.
