CONFIRMED! Ranveer Singh to play legendary skipper Kapil Dev in his biopic

Whether Ranveer Singh or Arjun Kapoor, it was a long unsolved mystery as to who would play the legendary former Indian cricket captain Kapil dev in his biopic on screen. And if reports are to be believed, it is the ‘Padmavati’ actor who has made the cut!

Yes, it will be the charismatic Ranveer Singh who will bring to life on the silver screen the former Indian skipper’s glorious journey to India’s historic victory in the 1983 ICC cricket world cup. It was the first time India lifted the trophy and remains till date one of the most iconic moments in the history of Indian cricket. Ranveer Singh, known for his extraordinary command over his craft, is sure to do justice to the skipper’s journey as he takes on the mission to recreate the hero’s extraordinary journey on screen.



Currently, Ranveer is shooting for Sanjay Lela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmavati’, which is on the verge of its completion. Ranveer will be seen essaying the role of the ruthless conqueror Alauddin Khilji, while co-stars Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor will be seen as Rani Padmini and Raja Rawal Ratan Singh, respectively. The period drama will hit the theatres on December 1.
