Deepika Padukone and PV Sindhu become flag bearers for PM Narendra Modi's new initiative 'Bharat Ki Laxmi'

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone and sports icon PV Sindhu have come together to collaborate for PM Narendra Modi's new initiative 'Bharat Ki Laxmi'. Deepika took to her social media handles to share a video which featured her and Sindhu talking about not only their journeys but also encouraging people to come forward and recognise women who have made a difference across the nation.

The 'Bharat Ki Laxmi' movement aims to celebrate and recognise Indian women who have left a mark in society with all the good that they've done for society. Sharing the video, Deepika wrote, "This Diwali, let us throw light on & celebrate the contribution & accomplishments of the women of our country! #BharatKiLaxmi (sic)."



PV Sindhu also took to her Twitter handle to share the video and wrote, "Societies grow when women are empowered and their accomplishments are given a place of pride! I support PM @narendramodi ji #BharatKiLaxmi movement. It celebrates extraordinary achievements of extraordinary women of India. This Diwali, let’s celebrate womanhood."



PM Narendra Modi replied to her tweet and wrote, "India’s Nari Shakti epitomises talent and tenacity, determination and dedication. Our ethos has always taught us to strive for women empowerment. Through this video, @Pvsindhu1 and @deepikapadukone excellently convey the message of celebrating #BharatKiLaxmi." The Prime Minister has also urged people through this video to highlight the work of women on their social media platforms using the hashtag "BharatKiLaxmi".
