Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Padmavati' has been in the limelight for all the wrong reasons. While on one hand, protestors are arguing about the validity of the historical facts presented in the film, on the other hand, members of the Rajput Karni Sena have threatened to take the lives of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone.

In the most recent state of affairs, the Delhi high court on Friday dismissed a petition seeking the screening of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 'Padmavati' in front of three prominent historians from top universities and a retired high court judge, apart from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles. A PIL was filed in the Delhi HC seeking the setting up of an expert committee comprising of historians, social activists, and a retired high court judge to ensure that there was no distortion of historical facts in the movie.

Meanwhile, the makers of the movie have voluntarily deferred its release, to get the requisite clearances from the censor board. Stay tuned for more updates.
