Did Aamir Khan want to play Sanjay Dutt’s role in his biopic?

Aamir Khan is known for getting into the skin of the characters he portrays on screen. But not many know that the actor, who broke all Box Office records with his recent blockbuster ‘Dangal’, was in fact hoping to play Sanjay Dutt’s role in his upcoming biopic.

According to a recent report, when filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani was finalising the cast of the movie, he got in touch with Aamir and said he wanted to meet him for a narration. Finally when the director, along with the movie’s writer Abhijat, met Aamir, he began to narrate Sanjay’s father Sunil Dutt’s character to him.A baffled Aamir interrupted saying, “I thought you were coming to narrate the role of Sanjay Dutt. I am not interested in playing the role of his father.” What a misunderstanding, right? Aamir, thus, ended up turning down the role for which Hirani later roped in Paresh Rawal.The Dutt biopic, which is amongst the most anticipated movies of this year, is scheduled to release in the latter half of 2017.
