Recently, filmmaker G. Suraj was in a controversy for making misogynistic remarks on the position and requirement of women in commercial films. That’s when Southern star Tamannaah took to social media and condemned the filmmaker’s indecent statements. The actress stated that she is also seeking an apology for the same.

Talking exclusively to Miss Kyra at the 62nd JIO Filmfare Pre-Award Party, Tamannaah spoke about the incident and said, “It is high time that we all stand up for ourselves. I stood up against this because I found that (the remarks) so offensive at the time I was promoting the film we had just shot for. What scares me is that most people aren’t even aware that they are sexist when they say something about a woman. It was not about the fact that he was sexist, but that he was ignorant about being sexist. And hence it was very important for me to stand up, talk about it, and create awareness. In our country in general, there is a lack of awareness when it comes to how women should be treated. That is a very basic thing, and as an actor people do hear what we say so this was the time when I could say so. I am not someone who usually comes out and talks much to the media but this was something I felt if I did not stand up for I would have let down a lot of people who believe in me.”

Very well said Tamannaah. More power to you girl!
