Farhan Akhtar talks about sequels to 'Dil Chahta Hai' and 'Don'

If we talk about the most memorable movies that we've watched, the first one that comes to mind is Farhan Akhtar's 'Dil Chahta Hai'. It's been 16 years since the film released but even today the movie is considered as a cult classic and still happens to be a fan favourite. 'Dil Chahta Hai' was the first movie directed by Farhan, and is remembered for its relevant story, memorable dialogues, amazing characters and of course its great music.

After the success of the film, Farhan has constantly been asked if he would ever consider making a sequel to it. During an interview with a leading media agency, the actor stated, "I have not really considered taking the film forward. I feel there were a certain energy, mood and a time in my life when Dil Chahta Hai happened and that’s why I wrote it."

"Now if I think of (a sequel), I will be forcing the issue. It is going to go from ‘what I wanted to say’ to now ‘something more should be added’. What was great about it when it happened was there was no design," he added. "The minute we start thinking seriously that I have to do a sequel to it, then design comes into play. That is something I want to avoid. If ever suddenly the moment of eureka happens then may be, who knows. But nothing as of now," he further continued.

Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Don' was another film that was directed by Farhan Akhtar. When speaking about the possibility of a sequel, the actor stated, "The story of Don allows you to take the film forward. It is plot-driven. But a film like Dil Chahta Hai is so much about the feel, the characters, the vibe of how people are."

When asked if 'Don 3' was in the making, Farhan said, "I am not ready with ‘Don 3’. That’s too far off."
