A massive fire broke out in Bandra's La Mer building on Tuesday. Eight fire tenders rushed to the spot and the fire was doused in some time. Around 12.50pm, the Mumbai fire brigade received a call about a fire incident in the Bandra highrise. Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar also used to live here.

According to reports, the fire erupted on the 13th floor of Bandra's La Mer building near Mount Mary Basilica steps where former Indian cricket captain Sachin Tendulkar owns a flat. Fire tenders and ambulances were immediately rushed to the spot. Actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan remained unavailable for a comment at this time.

"It was a timely response by the Brigade though Fire Fighting Systems were not in place. Fire was brought in Control and not allowed to spread," said Chief Fire Officer P S Rahangdale. Assistant police inspector, Savita Shinde stated that the fire started from the kitchen of Sachin Tendulkar's home where his in-laws reside now. The care taker of the house saw the flames first.
