Goa Chief Minister on screening ‘Padmavati: We will take a call after the certificate from CBFC is granted

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum ‘Padmavati; seems to have trouble each day. The Chief Minister of Goa Manohar Parrikar has said that the state government would take a final call on whether to ban the movie or not only after the CBFC gives a green signal to its screening. The chief minister has confirmed a Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) delegation that he would wait for Censor Board to give a certificate for ‘Padmavati’.



The Chief Minister as also told reporters after meeting the delegation of the BJP Mahila Morcha that the state cannot sustain to have a law and order problem which may arise due to the screening of the movie. The chief minister said that he is also looking at the issue from a law and order perspective. He also said that it was his personal opinion that history should be portrayed correctly because any wrong portrayal might hurt people’s sentiments.



Parrikar said, “As of now the Censor Board’s certificate has not been granted. We will take a call after it is granted.”



The chief minister also said that, “A touristic state has to be peaceful. So we will look into both aspects of it.”
