Has the release date of '2.0' been chosen based on superstitious considerations?

We recently brought to you that the Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth starrer '2.0' will release in April 2018 after the date being pushed twice by the makers. The film is all set now to be screened to the public on the 27th of April, 2018, the same week that 'Baahubali' was released in 2017. In fact, sources close to the film are even confirming that the date chosen is based on certain superstitious considerations.

“The film was supposed to release in January 2018. But when it was pushed forward, Akshay Kumar preponed his 'PadMan' to '2.0’s’ original release date. It is no coincidence that now '2.0' has gone to April 27, when 'Baahubali: The Conclusion' was released on April 28,” a source said. The makers of '2.0' see another 'Baahubali' reflect in their project. A source from the film's core team said, “Just like 'Baahubali', '2.0' will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Also, with Rajinikanth helming the project, the film automatically acquires box office supremacy in the South, while Akshay Kumar’s presence ensures a North Indian box office result. Thirdly, '2.0' is a good versus evil film. It was Prabhas versus Rana Daggubati in 'Baahubali'; it’s Rajinikanth and Akshay in '2.0'.”

The same source also added that the fourth week of April will see the year’s biggest blockbusters being released every year from now on. “It was 'Baabubali: The Conclusion' in 2017. It’s '2.0' in 2018. It’s likely to be Rajamouli’s next film in April 2019,” said the source.
