Maha Shivratri happens to be a Hindu festival that is celebrated annually in honour of Lord Shiva. It also happens to be a festival of convergence that is celebrated across the country to worship Lord Shiva, who is also called the 'destroyer of evil'. While some devotees chant prayers, meditate, fast and focus on virtues and ethics like self-restraint, honesty, forgiveness and the discovery of Shiva, many others also stay up all night, visit temples devoted to Lord Shiva and go on pilgrimages.

Much like us regular folks, B-town also seems to be all geared up to celebrate the festival. Celebs like Akshay Kumar, Pooja Bhatt, Sushant Singh Rajput, Diljit Dosanjh and Vidya Malvade were among many other Bollywood celebrities who took to their social media handles to wish their fans a very happy Maha Shivratri. From putting up pictures of the Lord to explaining the significance of the festival, here are a few celeb posts on Maha Shivratri 2019.

Today also happens to be the last day of the Kumbh Mela, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world held in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj. On this day, devotees of Lor Shiva celebrate Maha Shivratri by opting for a day-long fast and only eating food the next day. Stay tuned for more updates.
