It was recently announced that Nawazuddin Siddiqui was to don the role of famous politician Balasaheb Thackeray in the latter's upcoming biopic. The bilingual film (Hindi and Marathi) will be dubbed in English and will open on Thackeray’s 93rd birth anniversary on January 23, 2019. Directed by Abhijit Panse the schedule for the film will kick off on March 25 in Mumbai and is expected to wrap by June-end. As per reports, the actor will be seen in several looks. He will be seen aging from a young and enthusiastic Marathi ethnocentric cartoonist to the politician who had tremendous control over the city.

Filmmaker Sanjay Raut who has worked closely with Nawaz for the film said that he was blown away by Nawaz’s prep to get his quirks, body language and attitude right. The actor has been working with diction and dialect coach Ashish Pathode to duplicate his character's deep and throaty voice. Nawaz has also been studying cartoons on Thackeray drawn by RK Laxman, and how Thackeray responded to them. Well, it certainly looks like Nawaz is putting in all his efforts for this film. We're sure he'll look great and will nail the role. Stay tuned for more updates.
