It had been brought to our notice a few weeks back that a police complaint had been filed against veteran actor, Jeetendra with regards to a molestation case. The police had registered a case against him on his cousin’s complaint, who alleged that she was sexually assaulted by him in January 1971 in a Shimla hotel when she was just 18 years of age.

Now, we hear that the Himachal Pradesh high court stayed proceedings in the molestation case filed against the actor. The case has been filed under Section 354 of the IPC that entails the maximum sentence of two-year jail. The actor has even challenged the FIR filed against him stating that the police had registered the FIR without any preliminary investigation or evidence. Justice Ajay Mohan Goel, while hearing the petition, stayed further probe on this matter.

Jeetendra’s lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee had earlier said, "Foremost my client specifically and categorically denies any such incident. Besides even otherwise such baseless, ridiculous and fabricated claims cannot be entertained by any Court of law or the law enforcement agencies after a span of almost 50 years. The Statute has provided a justice delivery system through the Courts, and the Limitation Act 1963 was specifically enacted to ensure that all genuine complaints are made within a maximum time limit of three years so that a proper investigation is carried out and timely justice is delivered."

He had added, "Besides I want to make it specifically clear that the law does not give any person any rights or liberties of making any baseless, ridiculous or fabricated claims against any man publicly and seek to defame him with a hidden personal agenda. Media is therefore advised to cautiously refrain from giving any importance to such ridiculous, baseless and fabricated claims, and they should not participate in any way whatsoever in defaming or assassinating the character of any man in such cases."
Stay tuned for any updates on the matter.
