Imtiaz Ali gave Bollywood some of its best love stories with 'Jab We Met', 'Tamasha' and now 'Jab Harry Met Sejal'. The director is known for his knack of cinema as he doesn't glorify love like other filmmakers do. He, through his films, portrays the emotions of love by showing its flaws and not sugar coating the idea of it.

During a recent interaction, Imtiaz spoke largely about portraying love as a flawed emotion in his films. The director also admitted, "Flaws are the only things that are beautiful. That is the only thing that makes you different from anybody else."

Also talking about 'Tamasha', Imtiaz agreed that he gave a rather deceptive outlook of the film by going strategically wrong with the trailer of the film. He added, "In 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' the trailer is very true to the film. I do realize in 'Tamasha' it wasn't, and it was a mistake. That was a strategic mistake."

Talking about the relevance of seld-discovery of his central characters, Imtiaz concluded, "It must be so important because it’s seen very often in my films. And I think I make movies because it is fun and everything else is just an add on to that. So, when you are in a state of almost revelry inside, then you become very basic. And in that stage, it is possible to figure out who you really are. So, I can see some sort of self-discovery for all my characters and in some sort of way, I feel it must be happening to me."
