Controversy, protests, and political pressure notwithstanding, it looks like filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is all set for a victory over the censor board regarding his much-controversial ‘Indu Sarkar’. The movie, which has been making the headlines for a long time now and was refused clearance by the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC), has now gone to the Film Certificate Appellate Tribunal.

While the Tribunal’s verdict is yet to be declared, reports say that it will be in the favour of Bhandarkar and the movie will get a green signal with a few minor cuts. The movie has been under a lot of political pressure due to its close resemblance to real political incidents. Things intensified when on Monday afternoon a large group of people from the concerned political party descended on the CBFC office in Mumbai, demanding a ban on the film.

“But we explained patiently to them that the film is no longer with us. That it’s gone to the Tribunal. The protesters took this information sensibly. They submitted a memorandum asking for the film’s ban and left,” said CBFC chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani. Bhandarkar is also going to put up a disclaimer ahead of a film that states that “the events have been dramatised for the purpose of the film. I have been saying the film is 70 per cent fiction and 30 per cent real.”
