Jaya Prada addresses Azam Khan as ‘Khilji’ for harassing her during an election campaign

Actor-politician Jaya Prada confessed that Alauddin Khilji’s character from the film ‘Padmaavat’ reminded her of political rival leader Azam Khan. In a recent interview, she spoke about how he had harassed her while contesting an election campaign against him. She had also lashed out at the chief leader on previous occasions as well. She had reportedly accused him of intimidation and unsavory practices, especially during campaigning.


She said, “When I was watching 'Padmaavat', Khilji’s character reminded me of Azam Khan ji, how he had harassed me during elections when I was contesting.”


Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmaavat’ was Loosely based on the epic poem Padmavat by Malik Muhammad Jayasi, it stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, a Rajput queen known for her beauty, wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh, played by Shahid Kapoor. Sultan Alauddin Khilji, played by Ranveer Singh, hears of her beauty and attacks her kingdom to claim her. Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Raza Murad, and Anupriya Goenka featured in supporting roles.
