'Kabir Singh' trailer: Shahid Kapoor's rebellious avatar is bound to leave you hooked!

Shahid Kapoor is one Bollywood actor who knows exactly how to play every character he's given. Be it the role of a drug addicted rockstar in 'Udta Punjab' or that of a revenge-smitten man in 'Haider', Shahid sure has delivered some memorable performances and now it looks like the audience can expect one more amazing performance from him. Ever since news broke out that Shahid was to star in 'Kabir Singh', people have been waiting with bated breath for more news about the film to come out.



And now, the makers of the film have finally released the trailer and boy is it a treat to watch! Shahid takes on the role of the rebellious Kabir Singh who will go to any extent to forget the love of his life played by Kiara Advani. Throughout the trailer, we see how Shahid - an impeccable academic student and Kiara - a shy medical student fall in love with each other. When Kiara is forced to marry someone else, Shahid's life is turned upside down and this gives birth to his intense and rebellious form. And while everyone is left wondering what exactly it is that Shahid hopes to achieve with his anger, he justifies his behaviour by saying, "I'm not a rebel without a cause." Well, now if that isn't the quote of the year we don't know what is!





Shahid had also spoken about his self-destructive character in the film and said, "It was almost schizophrenic because the two worlds are such contrasts. Had I been single, living alone, I might have immersed myself in this dark zone for six months, as I did during 'Udta Punjab'. But this time I am married, a father, so I had to sanitize myself before returning home to protect my children from the negative energy. I couldn’t carry Kabir’s emotional baggage back so I had to flip roles after pack-up. it took a lot out of me because not only does this character degenerate into a loner in a self-destructive mode, I had to also create three different silhouettes, one of which needed me to be out of shape."



'Kabir Singh' is an official Hindi remake of the Telegu film 'Arjun Reddy' which starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in lead roles. The Telegu version was helmed by Sandeep Vanga who has also directed the Hindi version. Apart from Shahid and Kiara, the film also stars Nikita Dutta, Soham Majumdar and Suresh Oberoi in supporting roles. 'Kabir Singh' is slated to hit the theatres on June 21, 2019.
