There has been a lot of comments and opinions surrounding filmmaker Karan Johar and actors Saif Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan's remarks on nepotism during an awards ceremony in New York. While some laughed it off as a work of humour, many agreed that it was unfair of the actors to take a dig at Kangana, especially when the actress was not present at the event.

The three men have since apologised. While Varun tweeted his apology, Saif in an interaction said, "To me, at the event, it was just a joke and nothing more to be read into. But now I feel had we given it more thought, we could've really finished this ongoing public discourse on nepotism more decisively."

Taking the blame for the segment, Karan said, "It was something that we said in humour, it may be terrible humour, bad humour, misplaced humour, but our intention was not to hurt anyone. That very core is what failed. Then I got carried away in the moment and I regret that."

While Kangana has not spoken about the whole episode, a source close to the actress said, "A lot has been said Karan Johar can be very revengeful and vindictive. He is famous for being very arrogant and not patching up with people easily. Also, I don’t think Karan, Varun and Saif would have said any of this, if the comment was made by a big star. The reason why they are insulting Kangana on various platforms is because she doesn’t have a godfather. Not that she cares."
