Kangana Ranaut, in no time, has become controversy’s favourite child! Just when we begin to think that an issue has been resolved, Kangana kicks back to be embroiled in another controversy. The actress recently made headlines as writer Apurva Asrani called out Kangana over the writing credits of her upcoming film ‘Simran’.

And now, filmmaker Ketan Mehta had resorted to take legal action against Kangana, alleging that the actress hijacked his ambitious project based on the Queen of Jhansi. It is known that after ‘Simran’, Kangana will be seen in a film titled ‘Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi’.

A leading daily report suggests that Ketan Mehta had announced a similar project based on the life of Queen of Jhansi way back in June 2015. Kangana signed on the film, and over the one and a half years Ketan shared multiple drafts of scripts and research material to the actress. The report also suggests that he got on board an international co-producer for the film.

However, to his dismay the project didn’t quite work out, and after two years of discussion, Ketan and Kangana parted ways. Apparently, Kangana not only wanted to co-write the script but also co-direct it along with Ketan. Post the fallout between Ketan and Kangana, the actress announced ‘Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi’ with producer Kamal Jain and writer Vijayendra Prasad and director Krish.

Ketan came to know about this development from the media. He was soon to send out a press release that stated, “Kangana being privy to all the documents and research material along with the script shared with her, has knowingly committed the act of trying to hijack the project in collusion with Producer Kamal Jain & others.”

Another source close to Ketan Mehta, spoke about the press release and said, “This is a brazen act of hijacking a film project. This subject has been Ketan’s labour of love for over ten years & he believes that Rani of Jhansi is a great subject which can travel across the world. I know he has worked very hard to develop the entire project and has invested lots of time, energy and money in it. The act is a criminal breach of trust and a completely unethical attempt at stealing someone’s fully developed film project.”
