Set in small town India, 'Lipstick under my burkha' chronicles the secret lives of four women
What can four feisty women belonging to different age groups from Old Bhopal have in common? Their desire to be liberated from the identities they are a prisoner of, and to let go of worries and explore their desires. As beautifully conveyed by Ratna Pathak Shah in the trailer, "Parde bade mote the, Rosy ko koi dekh hi nahi pata.”

Directed by Alankrita Shrivastava, this movie stars Ratna Pathak Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aahana Kumra, and Plabita Borthakur in lead roles, with Sushant Singh, Vikrant Massey, Shashank Arora, Vaibbhav Tatwawdi and Jagat Singh Solanki. The trailer explores various female desires but never does look at it with the judgemental gaze. Though the trailer has been recently released, the film is an official selection for Tokyo International Film Festival, and in India will be screened during the 18th MAMI film festival.
