Localite claims that Anushka Sharma has made Chanderi famous by donning their local handloom saree

If you have been anywhere near the Internet recently, we bet you came across Anushka Sharma in this gorgeous green saree. The actress is all over town promoting her upcoming film, 'Sui Dhaaga - Made in India'. Much like in the film, Anushka is actively supporting the cause of the Indian handloom industry as she promotes the film. Her sartorial picks for her promotional looks have all been noteworthy.
However, the actress looked simply stunning when she wore this green Chanderi saree (as you can see above) to receive the Smita Patil Award. Her look has garnered praise from all over. In fact, this Indian look of the actress' has become quite the rage too! Anushka had bought this saree while shooting 'Sui Dhaaga' in Chanderi.
“Anushka was extremely supportive of our handloom and skill. She bought 35 sarees from us while she was shooting her film and also spoke to us at length to understand how we are trying to survive and take our sarees to the world. She had told us that she would promote ‘Sui Dhaaga’ wearing our sarees and we were very happy to see her wear our creation. Anushka has made Chanderi famous and we are extremely happy about that. Someone of her stature wearing our sarees and promoting our skill gets us the attention that we need to build our business and show the world how good our handloom is. We are indebted to her. She looks incredible wearing Chanderi sarees,” says Mohd Saiful Islam, who is one of the locals who sold Anushka sarees in Chanderi.
