What do you have to say about the lawsuit between Bata and the makers of 'Jolly LLB 2'? Who do you think is at fault?
As 'Jolly LLB 2' is all set to release on the 10th of February, the makers of the film have faced a Rs 3 crore lawsuit from the famous brand Bata for an allegedly defamatory comment in its trailer which was released a month ago. In the trailer, there is a scene where Annu Kapoor is talking during a lawsuit, and while Akshay and Annu are engaged in an argument, Annu comments, "Bata ka joota pehan kar, tuchchi si terricot ki shirt pehan kar, saala humse zabaan ladha raha hai."

However, the comment didn't go well down with the brand as they thought the product was being put in a low light. The case was filed against them for defamation and commercial disparagement. The shoe brand filed a case because they thought that the dialogue in the film run down their brand, and made it come across as a cheap quality product. Legal notices were sent to Akshay, Fox Star, and director Subhash Kapoor, over the derogatory dialogue.

Neeraj Grover, a Delhi High Court lawyer, partner at Kochhar & Co., informed, "A suit for injunction and damages of Rs 3 crore has been filed by Bata against Fox Star studios (producers) and 'Jolly LLB 2' unit. Faced with the lawsuit, Fox Star undertakes to delete reference of Bata and immediately remove the trailers with defamatory reference."

Neeraj further added, "The producers cannot simply wash their hands off by submitting an undertaking to delete the defamatory reference after over a month of the release of the trailer, which has received several million views."

However, an official statement from the makers of 'Jolly LLB 2' and Akshay Kumar is still awaited.
