During a gathering on the International Women's day, Mira Rajput took to the stage and spoke about being a proud housemaker. Mira while addressing the gathering, mentioned, "I love being at home and love my child. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I wouldn’t want to spend one hour with Misha and then rush off to work. Why did I have her? Misha is not a puppy. I want to be there for her. Seeing her grow can’t be quantified."

However, her statement irked the many working mothers, who later slammed the star wife. The statement created controversy of sorts, and Shahid Kapoor came in defence of Mira to end the flak she kept receiving. In a recent interview with a leading daily, Mira finally clarified that her intention was to not hurt sentiments and that she was only speaking her mind.

Mira said, "Could I have chosen my words better? Maybe. But I am not a seasoned actor and I don't know how to be politically correct. I was speaking for a certain section of women who aren't given their due... Women who stay at home and take care of the children or work from home deserve to be celebrated as much."

When the daily further questioned if she should be more cautious about what she says, Mira added, "I am not an actor or a public figure, I have the luxury to be politically incorrect."
