Nawazuddin Siddiqui SHAMES Bollywood award functions

On January 6th this year, Indian cinema lost one of its finest actors, Om Puri. Bollywood mourned as the veteran actor passed away at 66 at his Andheri residence, due to a massive heart attack. Yesterday, at the 89th Academy Awards, which are the most prestigious and celebrated award functions in the world, paid homage to the late actor and remembered him in the 'In Memoriam' montage.

'City of Joy', 'Wolf', 'The Ghost and the Darkness', 'My Son the Fanatic', 'East Is East' and 'The Parole Officer' are some of Om Puri’s most remember international works. Paying homage to the many souls that departed this year, renowned singer and songwriter, Sara Bareilles, paid a musical tribute to Puri along other personalities we lost.

Acknowledging this honour, Bollywood actor and the late actor’s close friend, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, took to his Twitter handle and shamed Bollywood award functions, for ignoring Puri’s unforgettable contribution to Indian cinema.
