Looks like Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmaavat’ has one issue less to worry now, as the date of the film is nearing. CM of Himachal Pradesh Jairam Thakur stated that the state didn’t want to ban the film if there is nothing controversial in the film. He also spoke about how he respected the art, and he has no objection in releasing the film in his state.

The Chief Minister said I had said earlier that I respect art. As far as ‘Padmaavat’ is concerned, Himachal government doesn't intend to ban it in the state. If there's nothing controversial in it, we have no objection in releasing it here. I want the film to be screened in theatres.”

While Gujarat and Rajasthan have banned the release of the film despite the clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification. Other states, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana, which had indicated that the film will not be allowed to be released in November -- are yet to announce their final decisions.

The film is based on the legend of Rani Padmini, a 13th century Hindu Rajput queen, mentioned in ‘Padmaavat’, an Avadhi poem written by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi in 1540. The film has been facing a lot of issues from the beginning from various political parties. The CBFC had given the green signal for the film with 5 modifications and it also included the change in the title. The makers have now officially announced the release date of the film.

‘Padmaavat’ is slated to release on 25th January 2018. It stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in lead roles.
