The controversy regarding Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati' has just escalated as of Thursday and it is safe to say that it just got worse. A senior functionary of the protesting Shri Rajput Karni Sena has now threatened Deepika Padukone of physical harm after doing the same with Sanjay Leela Bhansali days back. They have threatened her if she in any way incites public sentiments.

Referring to the nose chopping of ‘Surpanakha’ in the epic Ramayana, Karni Sena leader Mahipal Singh Makrana said that while Kshatriyas respected women if the film was not banned and Deepika doesn't stop inciting public sentiments with provocative language, the Rajputs would not lag behind in doing something about it. He said, “Rajputs would not lag behind in pursuing the way Lakshmana acted in the Ramayana."

The activist even added that if a movie like 'Baahubali' can earn crores showing the valour of ‘Kshatriyas’ then why do people want to cash in presenting wrong facts. Mr Kalvi from the activist group said that it has become a fashion to demean women and history through such films now. “We will not allow these cultural goondas to have their way,” he said. Mr Kalvi even went to the extent of alleging that 'Padmavati' had been funded by ‘Dawood in Dubai’ and said that explains the funding of the movie despite demonetisation.

When asked if there was any time for understanding, he said, “The time for negotiations is over. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a habitual offender when it comes to misrepresenting facts. He did it in 'Bajirao Mastani' also. He did not speak to even a single member of the royal family in Rajasthan when he started the film. I am the 37th descendant of Rani Padmini. Do I not have the right to defend the honour of my ancestors?”

The controversy is in deep. Stay tuned for more on the same.
