Pahlaj Nihalani defends CBFC's decision to bleep out words like 'cow' 'Hindu India', 'Hindutva view of India' and 'Gujarat' from Amartya Sen's documentary
Of late, Central Board of Film Certification has been battling accusations of being archaic and sexist owing to the various controversies. The CBFC currently made headlines owing to their decision to bleep out words like 'cow' 'Hindu India', 'Hindutva view of India' and 'Gujarat' from the documentary on the eminent economist, Amartya Sen.

Talking about it, CBFC chairman Pahlaj Nihalani said that the board was just doing its job. Nihalani said that if the makers have any grievance regarding the orders, they are free to appeal to the higher authorities such as Film Certification Appellate Tribunal.

Censor chief said, "This is our job... Whatever the director or producer is saying, ask him to go to the tribunal or the advisory committee"

While the documentary director Suman Ghosh has refused to adhere to the cuts suggested by the board, Amartya Sen refused to comment on the controversy.

'The Argumentative Indian' author said, "It is a documentary film on me. I have not made it. I have nothing to say on it. You ask Suman Ghosh about it. If the authorities have any objection, they can discuss it."
