Priyanka Chopra has been the global brand ambassador for Nirav Modi Jewels and there were speculations earlier on that the actress was planning to sue the jeweller. However, we also brought to you that her spokesperson had refuted those rumours and had said that Chopra had sought an opinion about terminating her contract with him and his brand in light of allegations over alleged fraud running into Rs 11,300 crore.

Priyanka Chopra's spokesperson has now officially said that the actress has chosen to terminate her contract with him. The spokesperson said, "In light of recent allegations, Priyanka Chopra has chosen to terminate her contract with the Nirav Modi brand." Chopra, with a net worth of an estimated $28 million had signed a three-year endorsement contract with Nirav Modi Jewels in January last year and was announced the official global brand ambassador of the brand. Apart from turning the spotlight on those promoting other brands associated with Nirav Modi, the scam exposes how difficult it can be to curb misleading ads by celebrities. Other actresses including the like of Kangana Ranaut and Kriti Sanon are now reportedly choosing to play it safe as they too are ambassadors for various jewellery brands.

In an earlier interview, on being the ambassador, Priyanka had said about her association with Modi, that it was like “a meeting of minds." Well, looks like that has changed now.
