Priyanka Chopra: Diversity is the need of the hour, and I’m really glad that that representation has started with me on a TV show
Priyanka Chopra is one of the few Bollywood actors who has successfully managed to make her mark in Hollywood. The Desi Girl is now a household name in the US as Alex Parrish, her character from hit TV series, 'Quantico'.

In a recent interview with BBC, when asked about 'whitewashing' of Asian actors in Hollywood, PeeCee said 'whitewashing' is not limited to one race. The actress revealed, "Whitewashing has nothing to do with just Asians, it has to do with every other race out there as well. Global entertainment needs to see representation of all kinds of races; diversity is the need of the hour. And I’m really glad that that representation has started with me on a TV show."

Talking about various South-Asian actors who managed to carve a niche for themselves in Hollywood Priyanka said, "There is no precedent of an Indian actor ever, whether it’s TV or movies, playing lead characters. But you have Mindy Kaling, Aziz Ansari, Kunal Nayyar there’s so much representation when it comes to South Asian talent that is getting there but yes it will take time to go mainstream and people will have to watch it as well."

Priyanka is currently busy shooting in New York for the second season of her hit-TV series, 'Quantico', which is all set to return after the mid-season finale. Priyanka is also gearing up for her Hollywood big-screen debut, 'Baywatch', which is scheduled to release in May.
